Los Angeles band
Bleed The Dream, which broke up in September of last year, have announced they are currently working on new material with their original vocalist.
Brandon Thomas, who was a founding member, left the band in 2006 and was replaced by
Mark Holmes. The group recorded their last album,
Killer Inside, with Holmes before disbanding.
While
Killer Inside took Bleed The Dream's sound in a new direction, guitarist
Dave Aguilera has said that the newest material is a return to their roots "BUILT BY BLOOD style." However, he also cautioned that he couldn't say whether or not there will be a new Bleed The Dream Album. He
did say "The only way we would do another one is if it was slammin'!"
Slammin' has never been a problem for the band, which originally gained attention in 2003 by joining
Warped Tour "guerilla style." Impressed by their attitude, Kevin Lyman gave them a spot on the Kevin Says stage by the end of the tour. Though they had "no merch, no tent, no nothing" Lyman invited them back in 2004 and finally signed them to his own label, Warcon Records.
During this time the band was undergoing a personal crisis, as their drummer
Scott Gottlieb was diagnosed with leukemia. Even as they gained more attention, joining the
Taste of Chaos Tour in early 2005, Scott became weaker and weaker. He passed away in April 2005, just two weeks before the release of
Built By Blood.
Even after Brandon left Bleed The Dream the next year, the memory of their friend kept the three original members close. Brandon dropped everything when the band announced its breakup, flying to Alaska for the group's last two shows. There he joined his friends and sang all their old material "like [Scott] would have wanted it."
Now, three years after Scott's death, two years after Brandon leaving the band and one year after the band's breakup, the three remaining founding members are planning to come together to "hash out all [their] ideas." Even considering Dave's caveat about the possibility of a new album, it seems reasonable for fans to keep their hopes high.
